Hojoki’s Privacy Policy below is based on the privacy policy of WordPress.com. Basically, it says:
- Per default, everything you do and publish in Hojoki is private and only visible to you.
- You are our customer and not our product. We will never give away your data or do any aggregation/mining thing with it other than what is neccessary to provide our service.

Gathering of Personally-Identifying Information
By signing up to Hojoki, we ask you for your name and email address. You may also want to create a password to access your Hojoki account. We store these data in your user profile.
To enable Hojoki to fetch and display your activities from other web apps/websites, you must in some cases provide us with your username and password for these services. To provide our service, we collect and store information on the activities that you perform at these web apps/websites. This may include also email addresses, names and nick-names of people you collaborate with. When you invite people to Hojoki or send messages, we collect and maintain information associated with those messages, including email addresses and content.
Gathering of None Personal-Identifying Information
Like most website operators, Hojoki collects non-personally-identifying information of the sort that web browsers and servers typically make available, such as the browser type, language preference, referring site, and the date and time of each visitor request. Hojoki’s purpose in collecting non-personally identifying information is to better understand how visitors use its websites. From time to time, Hojoki may release non-personally-identifying information in the aggregate, e.g., by publishing a report on trends in the usage of its website.
Hojoki also collects potentially personally-identifying information like Internet Protocol (IP) addresses for logged in users. Hojoki does not use such information to identify its visitors, however, and does not disclose such information, other than under the same circumstances that it uses and discloses personally-identifying information, as described below.
Cookies
A cookie is a string of information that a website stores on a visitor’s computer, and that the visitor’s browser provides to the website each time the visitor returns. Hojoki uses cookies to help Hojoki identify and track visitors, their usage of the Hojoki website, and their website access preferences. Hojoki visitors who do not wish to have cookies placed on their computers should set their browsers to refuse cookies before using Hojoki’s websites, with the drawback that certain features of Hojoki’s websites may not function properly without the aid of cookies.
Aggregated Statistics
Hojoki may collect statistics about the behavior of visitors to its websites. Hojoki may display this information publicly or provide it to others. However, Hojoki does not disclose personally-identifying information other than as described below.
Protection of Certain Personally-Identifying Information
Hojoki will not use this data for advertising, selling or any other purposes other than providing Hojoki’s service to its users and their collaborators. The data will only be accessible by our authorized technical staff and contractors for development purposes or to troubleshoot technical issues. This also applies to server logs and similar technical issues which might include private data.
Users can create and import new content to Hojoki’s service that may contain personal identifying data of third parties (e.g. collborators, friends). Per default, they are only accessible by the user. Users can share this information with others in Hojoki workspaces intentionally. By creating such shared workspaces, the users confirm that they have the permission from their collaborators to do so.
Hojoki discloses potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information only to those of its collaborators, contractors and affiliated organizations that (i) need to know that information in order to process it on Hojoki’s behalf or to provide services available at Hojokis’s websites, and (ii) that have agreed not to disclose it to others. Some of those collaborators, contractors and affiliated organizations may be located outside of your home country; by using Hojoki’s websites, you consent to the transfer of such information to them. Hojoki will not rent or sell potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information to anyone. Other than to its employees, contractors and affiliated organizations, as described above, Hojoki discloses potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information only when required to do so by law, or when Hojoki believes in good faith that disclosure is reasonably necessary to protect the property or rights of Hojoki, third parties or the public at large. If you are a registered user of a website belonging to Hojoki and have supplied your email address, Hojoki may occasionally send you an email to tell you about new features, solicit your feedback, or just keep you up to date with Hojoki’s newest work. In case Hojoki is acquired by or merged with another company, Hojoki will notify you before information about you is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy. We carefully select our professional partners for storage and data processing in terms of reliability, data security and data protection.
